Reddit Thread Summarizer — Terms of Use

Effective Date: October 7, 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the Reddit Thread Summarizer Chrome Extension (the "Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension and remove it from your browser immediately.

2. Description of Service

Reddit Thread Summarizer is a Chrome extension that generates AI-powered summaries of Reddit threads and displays them directly in the browser. The Extension captures Reddit thread content, sends it to a secure backend service, and generates summaries using Large Language Model (LLM) technology. The summaries are displayed in a clean, unobtrusive interface integrated into the Reddit page.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Extension. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. By using the Extension you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension for personal or business purposes, in accordance with these Terms.

5. Restrictions and Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, or create derivative works of the Extension.
  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, rent, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Extension or any part of it.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices contained in the Extension.
  • Use the Extension to violate Reddit's Terms of Service or User Agreement.
  • Generate summaries for commercial resale or distribution without express written permission.
  • Abuse the service by submitting excessive requests or attempting to overload the backend infrastructure.

6. User Content and Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the Reddit threads you choose to summarize and how you use the generated summaries. We do not control the content of Reddit threads or the AI-generated summaries and are not responsible for their accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness. You must not use the Extension to process content that infringes third-party rights or violates law or third-party terms. Summaries are generated using AI technology and may contain inaccuracies or omissions; users should verify important information independently.

7. Service Usage and Limitations

We reserve the right to implement usage limitations, rate limits, or subscription models. We may suspend or limit access to users who abuse the service or generate excessive backend costs. The Extension may cache summaries locally to improve performance and reduce server load. We do not guarantee availability of the service at all times.

8. Third-Party Services

The Extension relies on third-party services including but not limited to: Reddit API for thread data retrieval and LLM providers for AI summarization. Those services may collect information and have separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party acts, omissions, service interruptions, or changes to third-party APIs or policies that may affect the Extension's functionality.

9. Privacy

Use of the Extension is also governed by the Reddit Thread Summarizer Privacy Policy (available separately). By using the Extension you consent to the collection and use of information as described in that policy.

10. Updates and Modifications

We may update, enhance, or modify the Extension at any time. We may also modify these Terms. Changes will be effective upon posting the revised Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Extension at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. You may uninstall or stop using the Extension at any time. Termination does not limit any other remedies we may have.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Extension will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that summaries will be accurate or complete.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability to you for any damages arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the Extension shall not exceed $10 USD. In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages arising from reliance on AI-generated summaries, service interruptions, or data loss.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your use of the Extension, or your violation of any law or third-party rights including Reddit's terms of service.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of appropriate courts.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Extension and supersede all prior agreements.
